Pre-Design Stage

Q: What happens in the Pre-Design Stage?

A: In Pre-Design, you conduct an initial site survey, place elements, and capture photos to document their planned locations before installation.

Q: How do I conduct the site survey?

A: Walk through the site with your floor plan open on a tablet. As you survey, drag and drop elements from the left toolbar onto their planned locations.

Q: Can I rearrange elements after placing them?

A: Yes, you can drag and move any element to a new location at any time during the Pre-Design Stage.

Q: How do I take photos of the element locations?

A: Select the element, then click the camera button in the right toolbar to take a photo. The photo attaches to that element.

Q: What kind of information should I enter in the element labels?

A: The labels should contain clear, unique identifiers like "Camera 1 West Entrance" and "Access Panel Main Lobby".

Q: When should I advance to the Design Stage?

A: Once initial placement and photos of elements are complete, you can click "Move to Design Stage" button to advance to the next stage.

Q: How do I add elements to a floorplan image during the pre-design stage?

A: During the pre-design stage, you can add elements to a floorplan image by using the left toolbar. Click on the 'field elements' dropdown. Here, the pre-selected available icons from earlier will display for easier access to inserting them on a floorplan image. While walking through a site, a Surveyor can drag an element from the left toolbar and place it in the location that it must be installed on the floor plan.

Q: How do I finalize the pre-design stage and move to the next stage?

A: Once all of the elements for a project are placed in, a Surveyor can close the pre-design and send it forward to the designer by clicking the "DESIGN >" button in the main pre-design page of the project folder. This will move the project to the design stage where the layout of elements on the survey image will be refined.

Q: How do I view the information of the elements implemented into a project during the pre-design stage?

A: To view the information of the elements implemented into a project during the pre-design stage, you can go to the 'Elements' folder that appears next to the floor plan image file in the pre-design subpage. It displays a list of all of the elements that were implemented into a project, and clicking on the individual elements in this folder displays more information.

Q: How do I view the start and end dates of a project during the pre-design stage?

A: To view the start and end dates of a project during the pre-design stage, you can use the 'Opportunity Information' dropdown. Here, the start date and end date of a project are displayed. This is important for keeping track of the project timeline.

Q: How do I put a project on hold during the pre-design stage?

A: To put a project on hold during the pre-design stage, you can use the 'Hibernate' function found in the 'Opportunity Information' dropdown. Q: How do I refine the layout of elements on a survey image during the pre-design stage?

A: During the pre-design stage, the Surveyor places the elements in a very close approximation to the final intended install location. However, it is the Designer's job to refine that to exactly where the elements are going to be implemented. The Designer can fully edit the icons on a survey image and make changes with items in the right toolbar and left toolbar. The Designer can also add in more icons if needed or remove icons that the Surveyor pre-selected. Once the design is complete, the Designer can push it to the take-off stage.
